Consortium are pleased to be representing a well established engineering business that are looking for an aspiring Technical Buyer.

In this dynamic role, as Technical Buyer you'll be:
  • Running MRP: Ensure the right materials at the right time by managing inventory flow with bespoke software.
  • Raising orders and processing acknowledgements: Keep the production line moving smoothly by placing timely orders and verifying their confirmation.
  • Initiating and logging supplier enquiries: Proactively address supplier questions and concerns to foster positive relationships.
  • Chasing overdue orders: Be a champion for punctuality, ensuring deliveries arrive on schedule.
  • Negotiating with national & international suppliers: Secure the best possible prices and terms through effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Sourcing potential new suppliers: Research, evaluate, and select the best fit for the company's needs, factoring in quality, cost, reliability and terms.

  • Technically minded: You are able to read technical specs and drawings
  • Cost & delivery champion: You find cost-effective solutions while ensuring timely deliveries, to ensure production activity is not effected.
  • IT Literate: Confident using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and open to learning new systems.
  • Relationship builder: You understand the power of strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Bonus points for:
  • Experience with direct and indirect purchasing within a manufacturing setting 
  • Experience of using an MRP system
