Site Services Engineer
Salary: £48,500
Location: Hull
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm

We are currently seeking a multi-skilled Site Services Engineer to join a busy and well-established food manufacturing site. This is a permanent, full-time role, ideal for an experienced engineer with a background in facilities or site services, looking to work in a day-based role with no weekend shifts.
This position plays a vital role in supporting site operations by maintaining and repairing essential services, such as boilers, ammonia systems, air compressors, and effluent treatment equipment. The successful candidate will ensure that all systems remain fully operational in line with food safety, health and safety, and legal compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns across all site services and plant
  • Maintain and monitor boilers, ammonia refrigeration systems, air compressors and water treatment systems
  • Strip, clean and rebuild pumps and valves, including within the effluent house
  • Carry out basic welding and pipework repairs
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance activities and spare part usage
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety and food hygiene standards
  • Work closely with other departments and communicate engineering updates effectively
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the delivery of engineering KPIs
  • Conduct root cause analysis to minimise equipment downtime
  • Attend relevant training to stay current with legislative and safety requirements
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience working in a facilities, Site Utilities, Plant Services or Site services role within a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Multi-skilled with strong electrical and mechanical background
  • Experience with ammonia systems, steam boilers and compressed air systems is essential
  • Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills desirable
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, COSHH, and relevant industry legislation
  • Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing is beneficial
  • Ability to work independently, proactively and safely
  • Good organisational skills and a methodical approach to problem solving
