About the Role:
As Category Manager, you will have direct responsibility for the strategic management of a global supplier base. Working cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, Quality, and other stakeholders, you will lead supplier management activities, oversee sourcing strategies, and ensure supplier performance aligns with goals and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of the global category strategy for assigned product groups.
- Evaluate, select, and manage key suppliers. Negotiate complex contracts and drive supplier performance in line with KPIs and business goals.
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives. Manage cost planning processes and analyse spend to deliver procurement savings and efficiencies.
- Lead supplier risk management activities, including issue resolution and supplier audits.
- Work with internal stakeholders across Operations, R&D, NPD, and Quality teams to support product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Research and monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and market pricing to inform sourcing decisions.
- Effectively communicate with internal leadership and suppliers at all levels, delivering clear updates on category performance, risks, and opportunities
- Strong experience in procurement, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, risk management, and supplier performance improvement.
- Salary up to £55,000, with a comprehensive benefits package available and hybrid working options
- Occasional global travel required
