The Role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Assistant will play a vital role in supporting sourcing activities, supplier management, and procurement project delivery. You’ll ensure best value from the supply base while maintaining accurate records and providing cover for the Supply Chain Coordinator when required.
This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and opportunities to gain exposure across procurement, supply chain, and commercial operations.

The Role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Assistant will play a vital role in supporting sourcing activities, supplier management, and procurement project delivery. You’ll ensure best value from the supply base while maintaining accurate records and providing cover for the Supply Chain Coordinator when required.
This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and opportunities to gain exposure across procurement, supply chain, and commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with sourcing activities including obtaining quotations, conducting price comparisons, and preparing data for decision making.
- Raising purchase orders, managing requisitions, and ensuring accurate records are maintained in SAP.
- Supporting supplier performance monitoring and maintaining up-to-date supplier data.
- Liaising with suppliers to resolve queries, secure compliance information, and ensure accurate lead times.
- Providing accurate product, cost, and lead-time information to the Sales team.
- Assisting with cost management, price analysis, and monitoring purchase price variances.
- Supporting procurement projects and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
- Providing cover for the Supply Chain Coordinator during periods of absence.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); experience with SAP or ERP systems is desirable.
- Experienced in purchasing, supply chain, or an administrative role (manufacturing experience advantageous but not essential).
- Commercially aware, eager to learn, and motivated to contribute to continuous improvement.
